The trail of musical heritage that runs through Kentucky is so rich it’s impossible to place a foot without landing on some thread of it. Raised in Louisa KY, Adam Chaffins grew up amidst the culture of ‘Country Music Highway’ US

23. Beginning with a foundation in 90's country and bluegrass, Chaffins received a scholarship singing classical music in college although soon to electric and upright bass, ultimately receiving a degree in jazz performance.

Moving to Nashville in 2010, he fast became an in-demand bassist and vocalist, touring with Rounder Records’ The Deadly Gentlemen and a stint with North Carolina traditional bluegrass band, Town Mountain. In the studio he’s gained the attention of producers like Buddy Miller and Dave Brainard, and as a writer he won a SESAC award in 2013 for a co-write with GRAMMY winning group The Infamous Stringdusters.

On May 19th Chaffins released the “I’m Over You” EP, a tribute to east-Kentucky country music legend, the late Keith Whitley. The EP features studio, acoustic and live versions of Whitley’s classic “I’m Over You” and was met with critical acclaim. The Bluegrass Situation premiered the video for "I'm Over You (Live) from Southern Ground Nashville” and Rolling Stone Country recently named the single as one of the "10 Best Country and Americana Songs to Hear Now." CMT Music premiered the video that remained on the CMT Music 12-Pack Countdown for six consecutive weeks.

Chaffins has released several singles off his debut solo album set for release in early 2020. The album is fruit of all the years touring, melding, and craft honing. Working with producer Ethan Ballinger (Lee Ann Womack, Aubrie Sellers, Andrew Combs) and GRAMMY award winning engineer Brandon Bell (Zac Brown Band, The Wood Brothers, Sarah Jarosz) at Southern Ground Nashville Studios, the songs have ornamentation found in pop and rock cliques, bringing together such a wide range of influences it’s simultaneously familiar yet far away.
