Splash N' Boots at Rams Head On Stage

Splash’N Boots rose to prominence in the hearts and minds of families through music, live shows and television. Their music creates family dance parties; it is a soundtrack to bedtimes, mealtime and all moments in between.

Since their inception, Splash’N Boots have released twelve original music albums, resulting in five consecutive JUNO Award nominations for Children’s Album of the Year between 2014 and 2018. Their most recent album, You, Me and The Sea, saw them collaborating with much loved singer-songwriter Alan Doyle (formerly of Great Big Sea) and recently was awarded the JUNO Award for Children’s Album of the Year. Recording in Newfoundland, Canada, the new songs are infused with the essential elements of Newfoundland kitchen parties with a good dose of step dancing, fiddling and even a dreamy bedtime waltz. The duo have over 925,000 streams on Spotify (250,000 streams in 2018 alone), and enjoy an ongoing conversation with their community on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter. They’ve also won Canadian Children’s Music Group of The Year at the SiriusXM Independent Music Awards three times.

On television, they appear daily in over 8.5 million homes across Canada with their number one TV show, which is broadcast daily on Canada’s top children’s television network, Treehouse TV and Disney Jr. Canada. The show is also featured on Kidoodle TV, a worldwide streaming platform, and had over 1 million streams within the first 6 months on the channel. To date, they have written and starred in over 100 episodes and have also written and produced an original segment for season 49 of Sesame Street. They’ve also been featured in televised performances with The Wiggles and Fred Penner.

At their live shows, the family audience is encouraged to show up and participate as the yellow and blue crew. “It’s a collective experience for us and the audience. Our goal is always connection – bringing kids closer to their families, and also to each other” explains Taes Leavitt (Boots) “Our hope is that our music will connect, and also inspire kids to stand up tall in who they are, and know that they are always loved,” continues Nick Adams (Splash.) Unique and inventive, they constantly strive to create opportunities for parents and children to share moments. They’ve toured in North America, Dubai, Bermuda, Australia, and Italy.

Splash’N Boots are committed to raising awareness for important causes. They do ongoing performances and outreach with Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital, Camp Ooch (a camp dedicated to serving children affected by cancer), team up with Kids Up Front (a charitable organization who distributes tickets to kids and families who can’t access them), and have a longtime relationship with Starlight Foundation (a charitable organization dedicated to brightening the lives of seriously ill children and their families by bringing them joy, laughter and relief.) They shepherd their own grassroots organization, Lucas’ Letters, a pen pal program that connects children with Autism and they are the first children’s act to partner with PLUS1 so that $1 from every ticket sold in their cross-Canada 2018 tour went to support access to music education and adaptive instruments for young children via Musicounts.

In 2018, the band created the Big Heart Award. The duo gave a seven-year old boy named Nicholas, who was being severely bullied at school, a yellow and blue heart-shaped pillow to hug when he was feeling scared and lonely. The pillow was to remind him that he is loved and that he will always be part of the Yellow and Blue Family. For his birthday, Nicholas told his friends and family to bring money instead of presents so he could buy heart pillows for other kids who needed love. He showed up at a Splash’N Boots show and told them what he’d done. Nicholas’ inspiring love movement was embraced by Splash’N Boots and it led them to create their Big Heart Award. To date they have presented over 75 people, of all ages and abilities, who are doing amazing things in their communities or who could just use an extra bit of love and support with the Big Heart Award. The award represents exactly what Splash’N Boots aim to be for children and families; a chance for them to be seen, heard, and loved for exactly who they are.
