Clapham Institute
Clapham Institute
Clapham Institute was founded in 2002. The name is drawn from activists of the late 18th and early 19th centuries who lived in Clapham, England, a village outside London.

Over four decades, this band of colleagues solved over sixty problems, including abolishing the English Slave Trade. They did it primarily by reframing issues, pioneering the use of images, including the iconic plate "AM I NOT A MAN AND A BROTHER?"

The Clapham activists relied on metaphor to reframe issues, introducing the use of pamphlets and journals that were distributed to thousands of coffeehouses.

*Food and beverage will be available for purchase throughout the evening.

An energizing party rock band, MISSPENT YOUTH has been playing for thousands of fans from New Jersey to South Carolina, headlining festivals, clubs, charity concerts, corporate events and weddings for over 10 years. Thanks to their continued popularity and enthusiastic fans they are the ONLY band to be nominated twice for Best Cover Band at the Maryland Music Awards in 2014 and 2015.

Misspent Youth brings the best dance rock from the ’80s to today. Their approach to music is characterized by pure harmonies, tight rhythms and great energy. Playing crowd-pleasing songs covering the biggest hits from bands like Aerosmith and Journey to Bruno Mars and Maroon 5, they are sure to keep any crowd dancing and singing all night.

From their beginnings as an acoustic duo in 2002, Misspent Youth gradually became the powerhouse pop/rock band that performs to capacity crowds at clubs and festivals all over the area. Highlights include headlining for sold-out crowds of 2000 people at the annual “Bands in the Sand” charity event in Annapolis (7 years running) and playing on many of the area's main stages, including Rams Head On-Stage and Merriweather Post Pavilion. Over the years they have been joined by local and national special guests including Governor Martin O’Malley, Ambassador (and bluesman) Andras Simonyi, The Baby's frontman John Bisaha, and legendary sax man Mark Rivera.

Original members include: Dixon- lead vocals & guitar, Lorenzo –lead guitar & vocals, Johnny- Bass & Vocals, Adam- Keys & vocals and in 2015 they welcomed Shawn on percussion as the first new member since the band was founded.
