Shenandoah Run
Shenandoah Run
Formed in 2011, Shenandoah Run is a 9-piece, DC-based band in pursuit of a vision—keeping folk music alive and fresh! This vision has been key to their success. Their performances pay tribute to both vintage Americana and contemporary folk music, while their top-notch musicianship and soaring harmonies lure you in for that irresistible sing-along. Their second CD, “SR,” released in May 2016, brings a fresh voice to classic and contemporary folk songs.

Shenandoah Run has become a favorite at a variety of venues in the Greater Washington metropolitan area and beyond, having been invited back multiple times. SR is comprised of founder Bob Melissinos (vocals and guitar), Carolyn Eyerly Sagatov (vocals and percussion), Henry Milne (vocals and guitar), Renee Moyer (vocals and percussion), Jim Thorne (vocals, guitar, mandolin and flute), Pam Ferguson (vocals and fiddle), Joe Dickey (banjo), John Werntz (bass) and Robert Burleson (lead guitar). With a winning blend of voices and instruments, their performances attract large, often sold-out audiences. Come and experience “Folk Music with a Kick!”

This special evening will be emceed by Max Ochs, cousin of legendary Phil Ochs!

Max Ochs has been using “stolen moments” to scribble poems and songs since he was a teenager. He has worked with Anne Arundel County’s anti-poverty agency, the A.A. Conflict Resolution Center, and as a high school teacher of World History. Max earned a Masters in Humanities from St. John’s in Annapolis. A “primitive American” guitarist with several recordings, numerous public performances, and the founder of the 333 Coffeehouse he has stayed very involved in the Annapolis music scene.

He and wife Suzanne enjoy their five children and nine grandchildren. As for his relationship with Phil Ochs, their grandfathers were brothers and their grandmothers were sisters, so that makes him and Phil “cousins", sort of.
The OCEAN Orchestra
The OCEAN Orchestra
The OCEAN Orchestra brings you soaring vocals and fiery bagpipe and fiddle tunes in their own American take on Celtic folk-rock. Fairport Convention’s Simon Nicol says they “get right inside the spirit of the folk music of the British Isles,” and Steeleye Span’s Maddy Prior calls their songwriting “stunning.” OCEAN has long followed their own American-Celtic vision, strutting like Motown and jangling like the Byrds, blending folk and pop with global beats and bagpipes. With their fresh takes on traditional songs and award-winning originals by Jennifer Cutting, OCEAN has won over 25 Washington Area Music Awards, a #3 spot on the national Folk DJ Charts, and a triumphant appearance on NPR’s “Mountain Stage.” In concert, they’re sure to win your heart as well.
